Elbeuf

Located in Seine-Maritime, Elbeuf-sur-Seine is an old draper town. The first manufacturers appeared in the Renaissance and the textile industry flourished until the aftermath of the Second World War. The “ville aux cents cheminées” (“town of a hundred chimneys”), as it was once called, it then turned to a more modern industrial activity: namely, the chemical and mechanical industries. With its impressive industrial heritage, the town joined the list of “Villes et Pays d’art et d’histoire” (French towns and lands of art and history) in 2008. Since 2010, Elbeuf is part of the Métropole Rouen Normandie.
